I have a copy of this book & went online hoping to find some of the recipes online so that I could share with friends. Sadly no. But on to the review.I love the sense of humour that this book is infused with. Fans of Lovecraft and the Cthulhu mythos know all the horror is a little bit tongue in check. This book captures that feel while at the same time being a little on the side of creepy. I'm reading the essay about Thanatos written by Joseph W. Dickerson on page 36. It suits my ironic sense of humor that a book on cooking which is the essence of life would include ruminations on death.
In fact, earlier in the book on page 18 is a recipe titled "A Beautiful Death". Actually it's a recipe for Double Chocolate Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Mousse. Fitting as restaurants around the country have had several variations of "Death by Chocolate" over the years.
Onto the recipes. A good many collected here have gotten my attention. Thus I was trying to figure out which to try today. Unfortunately, my son is currently on the BRAT, bananas rice applesauce toast, due a tummy ailment. Nothing in here is going to sit very well with him. And my other little one is still at that faize where anything unknown is by definition BAD. So if I cook today, I'm eating alone. Still the recipe for Bratwurst burgers is calling to me. I like bratwurst, but that casing has always seemed a barrier to the taste. Spilling the entrails of the sausage and making burgers sounds like a great idea.
Reason for lack of 5 stars. The book is not a hard back. Which normally wouldn't matter, but cook books tend to take a beating because of the need to have the book open in the kitchen. I suspect, I'll destroy it after having made only a fraction of the meals contained inside. Would love to see it expanded with new recipes & put in a format like the Game of Thrones cookbook. Secondly, the recipes are not indexed so that it is easy to reference for the type of dish needed. I'm happy that deserts are intertwined with entrees because the book has a kind of flow that works. However, when planning meals an index would be helpful. Second edition, hopefully?
In any case, if you are looking for some uncommon recipes or have a sense of adventure, this would be a good addition to your food library.

Cuisine from Beyond Rachael D Hill 9780977043781 Books Reviews
I purchased the hardback version of this book and the art work and stories lend so much creativity to these unique recipes. Its a definite must have for any cook at any skill level and such a wonderful addition to any collection!
I just snagged a copy of this at a convention called Con Nooga and I love it! Every page has a beautifully printed photo and the recipes are easy to follow. What a killer idea for horror fans who happen to enjoy eating! )
I got this book at the 2012 Con Nooga from the Bella Morte table...It is full of great recipes, artwork and a few kinda creepy stories...If you cook I'd recommend this book...If you are a fan of the Cthulhu mythos I'd say get this book...But most of all...Don't you NEED a book that has the cover art of Great Cthulhu dressed as a Hibachi chef???
This book strikes a chord for me in my desire to express creativity through taking a theme and running with it to create a whole environment in which to experience food. Food is enjoyed through all of our senses, and this book has quite a few recipes that are visually more appealing (as well as tasting great) which is quite original (as I would have never thought about whether a drink glowed under black-light, but that is a pretty awesome party effect to plan out). This is a cookbook that appears designed to spark the imagination, and greatly enjoy that!
